Description
These are young graduates looking towards the bright future and what it holds for them. The painting is a collage of a vision of the future starting with two high school students looking with hopes and dreams toward the future and what it will bring after their graduation from Aldine High School in 1957. They are dressed in clothes and hair styles of the period, complete with flat top, pink poodle pin, leather jacket and a 1957 Chevy sitting nearby. I show some of the liberties we enjoyed such as being able to bring our Christian faith to school by having Bible study clubs, to the American flag where we could openly recite the Pledge of Allegiance to our Country with the words one nation under God and not be ashamed of it. The future side of the painting is limited only by ones imagination. I couldnt show all of my ideas because it is near impossible to show 100 years of progress on 36 of canvas. We dreamed of environmentally controlled cities in great transparent domes reaching to the sky and past that to actual Sky Cities. Our transportation takes on the form of, people movers, huge aerial ocean liners that can carry a thousand commuters at once, to having our own personal anti-gravity runabouts. Please note the little runabout has the genetic linage of the original 1957 Chevy complete with the rooster tail side trim to the 2-door hardtop trim. The car will have no color when you purchase it. The car will automatically change color as you are driving it based on your emotional state at that time you are driving it. If you are alert and happy your car will be yellow or some other bright cheerful color. If you are angry and aggressive it will turn that corresponding assigned color. All of the other human emotions will be color matched to alert you of what the status of the other drivers are around you. Fuel will cost pennies and Doctors will be on time and make house calls again. Whatever the future holds, Im sure it will be a surprise for all of us.

Thank you! I had a surprise when I attended our 50th High School reunion. I had chosen these two students from our graduating class but had not seen or talked to them in 50 years. That night of the reunion I learned that the young man that I had chosen for this painting had a career working for NASA. How cool is that!
